HTML Introduction

Whatever you view on a web page on the internet is written with the help of HTML. HTML is the abbreviation for HyperText Markup Language.

HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is a universal language used to write and develop web pages. HTML code that tells the browser what to do and how to render on a Web browser, just like font, links, paragraphs, graphics etc.

HTML tags are used to mark-up HTML elements. A tag tells the browser what and how to do. When we write an HTML page, we enter tags for many reasons i.e. to change the appearance of text, to show a graphic, or to make a link to another page. HTML tags are start with less than symbol (<) and the greater than symbol (>) to indicate some modification of the content on the page. HTML tags normally come in pairs like <body>, <head>, <title> etc.

HTML is the latest standard released by the <a href="www.w3.org" target="_blank">www.w3.org</a> for web pages. This was the first version which include cascading style sheets as part of the HTML standard. In HTML, each HTML document has to begin with a <!DOCTYPE html> declaration that specifies which version of HTML document uses. Originally, the DOCTYPE declaration was used only by SGML-based tools like HTML validators which needed to determine which version of HTML a document used.
